Kitson Boyce Completes 200km Anniversary Trek in Aid of Torbay Communities
After 6 months of meticulous planning and organisation, we’re delighted to share the success of our 200km trek, which took place this May. As part of our 200th Anniversary celebrations, colleagues from across the firm came together to complete 200km along the Southwest coastline, raising £5,000 for one of our charity partners, Torbay Communities.
The county-wide challenge formed a key part of our ongoing 200-year celebrations, as we mark 200 years of trusted legal advice and service to the wider community. Throughout our bicentenary year, the Kitson Boyce team is coming together to support a wide range of initiatives, including a charity golf day, volunteering projects with the Deaf Academy, and a special exhibition at Torquay Museum.
Our 200km fundraiser event was coordinated by Anthony McDowell and Ryan Greensmith with the vision of connecting each of our office locations and bringing together the whole team in a challenge that marked our milestone spectacularly.
The trekkers began in Exeter on Saturday 16th May, with the first group of walkers setting off along the Southwest Coast Path towards Babbacombe before continuing through some of Devon’s iconic coastal scenery. Along the route, colleagues joined at different stages, with many taking part as pledge walkers through Torquay.
What followed was no small feat! Over five long days, team KB tackled long distances, steep climbs, tired legs, unpredictable weather, and every challenge the route threw at them. One particularly memorable moment came at Berry Head, where the team celebrated reaching the milestone with medals and fizz. The final stages of the trek brought colleagues together once again as the route concluded in Plymouth on Wednesday 20th May.
Whether walking a few miles or completing multiple sections, everybody across the firm played an important role in the success of the challenge and the fundraising efforts. From those taking on the miles themselves to those supporting from the sidelines, helping with logistics, or keeping the cogs turning back in the office, this was a true team effort.
Special mentions go to Anthony and Ryan, whose organisation, planning, and on-the-ground support made the challenge possible. From making sure walkers were in the right place at the right time to keeping everyone fuelled and moving, this event wouldn’t have been possible without them both. Thank you also to Jasmine Parr for bringing the walk to life on our social media channels and helping to keep the donations rolling in, and Rhodri Davey and Kate Barton for their hard work behind the scenes supporting the organisation of the event.
This team success provides a fantastic example of the culture that exists across our firm and solidifies the values that have helped shape it over the past 200 years.
